Katherine Roche Buchanan is an artist whose portraits hang in homes from the east coast to the west coast of the United States.

A forth generation Mississippian, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mississippi University for Women in 1977. Her concentration was watercolor and oil painting. Katherine spent many years working as an illustrator and a graphic designer for various publications. She was Art Director for Mississippi Magazine for 14 years.

Through the years Katherine has studied works of the great masters and has participated in workshops under some of the country’s best portrait artists. She also enjoys painting landscapes and cityscapes. She is a member of Portrait Society of America.

Katherine is an experienced painter of both children and adults. She also enjoys painting corporate portraits, and portraits of historic people such as the Native American Indian Chief, Pushmataha, which hangs in Mississippi’s state museum, the Old Capitol, in Jackson, Mississippi.

She travels the United States for sittings with clients. Katherine says her ability to capture the attributes of a person that may not show up in a photograph, has been a great asset to her work. Her clients find her very easy to work with, because she wants them to be absolutely pleased with the outcome.

Kathy Roche Buchanan resides near Jackson, Mississippi with her husband Keith, and their children, Tom and Anna. She says, "God has given me a passion to paint people and has opened many doors for me along the way. I am very grateful to him."
